A New Chapter for a Classic Binding

The 3-pin telemark binding has always been a symbol of simplicity in the backcountry. For years, the Voile 201 Telemark 3-Pin has been the go-to choice for skiers, pairing it with the Alpina Alaska 75 boot. But after a few seasons of feedback and real-world testing, we realized something: it wasn’t a perfect match. So we fixed it.

Say hello to the 201 AK 3-Pin Cable Binding and 201 AK 3-Pin Binding. These are our legacy 201 bindings, thoughtfully updated for a cleaner fit with the Alpina Alaska 75.

Why We Updated the 201 Telemark Binding

We originally brought the Voile 201 3-Pin back into production because the demand was clear. Leather boots like the Alpina Alaska 75 were gaining popularity again, and skiers needed a minimalist, trustworthy binding to go with them. The 201 seemed like the perfect pairing.

But over time, we started to hear a consistent story. The boot didn’t fit quite right. The toe box rubbed against part of the binding. It wasn’t catastrophic, but it caused unnecessary wear and tear on the boots. For a setup that was supposed to be built to last, that just wasn’t good enough.

So we went back to the drawing board.

Meet the 201 AK 3-Pin Cable Binding

This updated version keeps the soul of the original. Same low-profile design. Same bombproof construction. But now with a more refined fit for leather boots like the Alpina Alaska 75.

Another big change is the introduction of a cable option. The original 201 was only offered as a standard 3-pin. With the 201 AK, you now have two versions to choose from: a traditional 3-pin model for the purists and a cable-equipped version for skiers who want a bit more control and confidence on the descent. Same reliable platform, with added versatility to suit your touring style.

We also added a redesigned heel riser pad that now allows the cable heel assembly to latch securely over it while climbing. That means you can leave the heel assembly in place during uphill travel, rather than removing and reattaching it at every transition. It makes the whole process smoother and more efficient.

If you’re building a leather boot touring setup or getting into XCD skiing, this is the binding that brings it all together.
