10 Brilliant Nano Strap Uses You’ll Want to Try

The Voile Nano Strap might be the smallest strap in our lineup, but it has a serious talent for solving big problems. Light, compact, and endlessly adaptable, it’s become a favorite for riders, tinkerers, and anyone who likes to keep their gear dialed.
Over the years, we’ve seen Nano Strap uses that are clever, unexpected, and downright impressive — from streamlining bikepacking setups to quick gear fixes that keep adventures rolling. The best part? Most of them come from people out in the wild putting these straps to work in ways we never imagined.
Here are some of our favorite nano strap uses that people have sent our way over the past few years. Let’s take a look!
The Pint-sized Parking Brake
Our friends over at Montanus sent in a clever Nano Strap use that’s been a favorite in the bikepacking world for years. When you need to lean your bike against a fence, tree, or even stash it inside a bus, a simple loop of a Nano Strap around the brake lever acts as an instant parking brake. No more slow roll-aways or awkward balancing acts — just a quick, secure fix that works anywhere your ride takes you.
The DIY GPS Mount
Here’s another smart Nano Strap use from the Montanus crew (If you haven’t figured it out by now, they’re true Voile Strap pros). Using the small screw mount on the back of a Garmin InReach Mini, they threaded in a Nano Strap to create a simple, secure handlebar mount. The result? Communications stay right up front and easy to grab, even while pedaling deep into the backcountry. It’s a perfect example of how a little creative thinking can turn a Nano Strap into custom gear you didn’t even know you needed.
Keeping the Paws Protected
There’s nothing we love more than seeing a completely unique Nano Strap use — and this one’s right up there with the best. While out on a ride with their four-legged trail buddy, this Voile Strap aficionado came up with a genius solution to keep the dog’s booties from slipping off mid-adventure: bust out the Nano Straps. A quick wrap over each paw kept the booties secure, the paws protected, and the good times rolling for both rider and pup.
Tidying up the Cockpit
This is easily one of the most popular Nano Strap uses out there — and for good reason. A cluttered cockpit can make steering feel awkward, interfere with braking, and pull your attention away from the ride. With a couple of Nano Straps, you can streamline your setup, keep gear secure and out of the way, and maintain that lightweight, minimalist feel that makes long rides so much more enjoyable. It’s a simple fix that pays off mile after mile.
The Handlebar Headlight
There’s always that one piece of gear that gets left behind on a bikepacking trip. In this case, it was a bike light. Luckily, all it took was a headlamp, a Nano Strap, and a bit of creative thinking to save the day. One quick wrap around the handlebars and — boom — instant headlight. It’s the perfect example of how Nano Straps shine in those small, unexpected moments that end up making a big difference.
Broken Bike Shoe
Unfortunately, cobblers don’t make house calls — and they definitely don’t make trail calls. Luckily, none of that was necessary here. With a Nano Strap on hand, this rider was able to patch up a failing shoe mid-ride and keep pedaling. The strap was just the right length and width to hold everything together, proving once again that Nano Straps can keep you rolling when it matters most.
Tiny Tire Repair
Following a flat tire while riding The Grand Loop, this person had to get creative to cross the finish line. This Nano Strap allowed them to ride roughly 300 miles to complete the ride. Nano straps are for the expected AND the unexpected.
Trusted with Precious Cargo
While this isn’t the most common item we’ve seen strapped to a saddle, it’s definitely not unusual to spot a Nano Strap keeping something secure back there. Their compact size and surprising strength make them perfect for saddle storage — whether it’s extra gear, a quirky accessory, or, in this case, a cup of noodles. Not every Nano Strap use needs to be purely practical. Sometimes, it’s all about adding a little personality to the ride.
Keeping the Plants Healthy
Need a splint for your favorite piece of greenery? Look no further than your trusty Nano Strap. Just a quick wrap and it’ll hold stems, branches, or stakes securely in place for as long as you need. It’s a gentle yet dependable fix — proof that Nano Strap uses go well beyond the trail and into the house, too.
Keeping you Hydrated on Your Ride
Last but not least, we’ve got a rider getting creative with their hydration bladder setup while on the move. By securing the hose with a Nano Strap, there’s no need to reach down for a bottle or carry a bulky pack on your back. Instead, you can sip as you go, keep the thirst at bay, and stay focused on putting down the miles.
Do You Have a Unique Nano Strap Use?
Whether you’re strapping down bike gear, keeping cords in check, or finding some completely unexpected use, Nano Voile Straps prove that the smallest tools can make the biggest difference. Their versatility comes from one simple fact — if you can fit it, you can probably solve it with a Nano. It’s the kind of gear that earns its spot in your kit and never seems to stay in the drawer for long.
