    Voile Spartan Ascent Splitboard

    Take another lap.

    You've earned it.

If the purpose of the Voile Spartan is to “get your butt in the backcountry”, then the purpose of the Spartan Ascent is to keep your butt in the backcountry. There wouldn’t be such a thing as $100 lift tickets if this were an easy task, and even a few ounces of weight reduction in your equipment can make a huge difference in your level of enjoyment when you're making that approach on foot.

The Spartan Ascent shaves hundreds of grams underfoot when compared to the standard Spartan. While the Spartan Ascent retains its original shape and profile, we’ve applied the construction method of the Voile Revelator: paulownia wood core, custom carbon-fiberglass weave and a super-durable nylon top sheet.

You get the playful, switch-capable, high floating characteristics of the Spartan, but with a significant amount of weight trimmed off. Your legs will just be fresher and more willing for another run. So, go ahead—take another lap, you’ve earned it.

Voile Spartan Ascent Splitboard Camber Profile

    Ultralight

Full Cap / Paulownia / Double Carbon
Ultralight paulownia construction that shaves nearly a pound for easier ascents.

    Icon

    Anti-Ice Topsheet
Crafted from exceptionally durable polyamide material, and designed with a unique texture that effectively reduces the accumulation of snow and ice. This innovative feature is particularly beneficial during long approaches or in freezing conditions, where snow and ice buildup would normally hinder performance.

    Icon

    Paulownia Wood Core
Renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, this paulownia delivers a combination of durability and featherlight agility. It's the ideal foundation for constructing ultralight touring skis, making it the perfect choice for backcountry enthusiasts seeking maximum efficiency and agility on their mountain adventures.

    Icon

    Voile Carbon-Weave x2
Two layers of Voile Carbon-Weave combine the lightweight strength of carbon fiber with the durability of triaxial fiberglass. The strategic integration of carbon fiber into the ski's construction reduces the weight while providing the perfect blend of responsiveness, stability, and energy transfer, allowing skiers to maneuver with precision and control.

    Icon

    Triaxial Fiberglass
Triaxial fiberglass increases dimensional stability along three axis, providing for balanced torsional stiffness and enhancing your ability to control the ski (precise and firm edge grip). Triaxial fiberglass maintains a consistent flex pattern throughout the ski, ensuring predictable performance across different snow conditions and skiing styles.

    Icon

    Full-Contact Steel Edge
Steel edges provide superior grip and control on hardpacked snow and icy conditions, enhancing stability and confidence while skiing. Two lengths of hardened steel with inset teeth wrap the perimeter of this ski. Each section is painstakingly shaped by hand to ensure a precise layup.

    Icon

    Sintered Black Base
This ski passes on the base graphics for the sake of an ultra-high molecular density base; making for faster downhill performance and greater wear/impact resistance. And you can rest assured that your p-tex repairs will be seamless after your day spent breaking the sound barrier.

I rode the Spartan Ascent 162 all winter during the 24/25 season with Voile Light Speed bindings and Hyper Glide skins. I'm 6’ / 185 lbs, this board hits the sweet spot. I live in Maine and used this on everything from dawn patrol resort skin laps to backcountry lines and tight New England tree runs. Ascent- This thing is light! It climbs and kick-turns nicely and feels locked-in on sketchy sidehills. I never worried about the skin track even in soft boots. Decent- Snappy, responsive, and holds an edge. It eats up icy East Coast hardpack, still floats on pow days, and somehow manages to stay forgiving and playful for a split. Every turn feels fun. Durability- It's bombproof! The cap construction had me nervous at first, but after a season of abuse it has held up great. Bottom line: this board rips. If you’re looking for a touring setup that can handle everything New England throws at it, the Spartan Ascent will get it done.

This board is my daily driver guiding skier and snowboarders in the Tetons and Alaksa. Its playful and handles varied snow conditions well. Its not the board for high speed (revelator or vtail for that) but its weigh makes squeaking out another lap no big deal.

Probably the best purchase I ever made when it comes to snowboarding! My setup is now 3.2lbs lighter which makes a HUGE difference when it comes to skinning and bootpacking! They’re not joking when they say it keeps you out there! It’s helped me to go for longer tours and bigger objectives! My old board (unfortunately not a Voile) is a 159 and was way stiff and heavy, and made riding unenjoyable, especially when in tight trees or on top of steep lines. It never seemed to want to float, whereas my 5cm shorter Spartan Ascent floats like an absolute dream. Basically, that board never inspired the confidence to ride some of the bigger lines we have here in the Wasatch, but luckily my Spartan Ascent changed all that! It’s playful enough to send off of natural hits or bust a nice butter 3 in the powder, but also rides smooth and stable enough to bomb some big mountain lines! I’m also NOT the slowest on the ski track anymore haha! Just the other day, I skinned/hiked to the peak of Mount Superior and rode down the South Face, and from the initial chute I dropped into, to the small cliff band I jumped off, and then lastly the wide open apron to surf, spray, and butter my way down to the canyon rode, this board handled everything I threw at it! Couldn’t be more happy that I bought it last April! It’s taken me from really questioning how I feel about splitboarding, to some of the best and most fun runs of my life, and mind you that’s only having ridden it late last season and the amazing December we’ve had to far! Cheers to many more tours and seasons with this Spartan Ascent! To anyone on the fence, 10/10 would recommend and highly advise, especially if you’re looking to go out for some long days and big missions! Seriously can’t say enough great things about this board!

This is my first season riding Spartan Ascent, and it has been great so far. Paired with Speed Rail binding and Nylon skins makes it a solid set up. It is light enough and floats like a champ in Wasatch powder.

    Aptly named: Ascent

The Voile Ascent Board is aptly named indeed - it makes skinning uphill as swift as cross-country skiing. At least it made me think of cross-country skiing, since going uphill suddenly felt so effortless with my new "ascent" board. I have the 158. Transition is really easy and works flawlessly (if you've had a splitboard for a while, things have improved significantly). I got my first splitboard over 20 years ago, a Voile Mojo and about the second round of those ever made. Going down, the board is quick edge-to-edge and you can ride switch easily in tight trees, as the description already says. In open terrain and especially in crappy snow it is noticeable that the board is rather soft, so if you normally ride a stiff and fast board (like me) you have to be careful not to use too much force. Its a good board for quick stints up the hill and rides easily.
