I’ve used Voile Straps for skiing and cycling, but one of their most valuable uses for me is securing my skis and poles inside a hard ski carrier when I travel. I travel with a pair of Salomon Stance 102s, and my priority is making sure the skis and poles stay tightly bundled and don’t shift around while the case is being handled by airlines. I had been using two standard Voile Straps, which worked well, but with 102mm-wide skis and poles bundled together, I was using much of the available strap length and the skis would shift in transit. I recently switched to the 1-inch Voile XL Straps with the nylon buckle, and they’re significantly better for this application. The wider, longer XL strap gives me plenty of room to wrap the entire ski-and-pole bundle and apply firm, even tension without feeling like I’m at the limit of the strap. I specifically chose the nylon buckle because it comes into contact with expensive equipment. I get the same simple, secure fastening system I like about Voile Straps, but without having a metal buckle rubbing against skis, poles or other gear and potentially scratching them during transit. That’s a small design choice that makes a lot of sense for my particular use. Once tightened, the polyurethane strap grips the equipment extremely well. There are no knots to loosen, no velcro hook-and-loop fastener to wear out or collect debris, and very little to go wrong. More importantly, after a flight I can open the case and find everything exactly where I secured it. The XL Nylon Buckle has now become my preferred Voile Strap for transporting ski equipment. I still use my standard Voile Straps and keep several around for skiing and cycling, but for larger or bulkier loads, the extra length and width of the XL combined with the gear-friendly nylon buckle make it a better tool for the job. Voile Straps are a great example of simple equipment done exceptionally well. The more I use them, the more uses I find for them, and the XL Nylon Buckle version has earned a permanent place in my ski travel kit.

I know they are just straps but my confidence of these well made, strong straps to secure my fat tire e-bike on a hitch rack is awesome. \nHighly recommend.
