    Old school for new kids
I replaced my pair of Voile 3-pin bindings from the 90s, and the Mountaineers are a big improvement. Nice and stiff for turns, easy to clip in and out, and very little resistance while touring.

    The best there is
After blowing up other brands (I have huge feet and boots that put a lot of leverage on the bindings) I started using these. They always work (for many years now) and they never break. I also use the cable version and love it.

    Rock Solid!
This is the 3rd pair of these bindings in our house. They cannot be beat and are light years ahead of any NNN-BC system. I have mounted 2 pairs of them on Nordic ice skates with outstanding results. Thanks for continuing production of these classic workhorses!

    Amazing customer service
Used these bindings over the last week and really put them to the test. They performed extremely well for an advanced level. Solid build, good quality. Customer service went above and beyond to get my order to me in time for my vacation when unexpected trucker protest halted shipments to Canada. I am a very happy customer!

    Bombproof
I have several pair of these on several skis for many years and many miles. They work perfectly. Simply, Sturdy, Light. Too bad its getting harder to find a good 3 pin 75mm leather boot for bc touring. Oh, and the prior red color binding was super cool looking. I think you should bring that back.

Great binding, but may not fit some wider boot soles due to thicker material.
The HD Mountaineer is obviously a great strong binding. However, be aware of a couple of boot fitting points. The binding uses thicker 0.125" aluminum than the earlier 0.100" thick Voile bindings (now called the 201 Telemark 3-pin bindings). I have both bindings. I have found that due to the thicker material, some leather Norwegian welt boots with slightly wider soles than spec may not insert all the way into the binding for proper 3-pin hole alignment. This is not a problem with the 201 binding because there is just a bit more side clearance due to the thinner material. So if you've got these types of boots, check to make sure the boots can slide easily all the way in over the pins before closing the bail. The other thing to be aware of is that the bail on the HD Mountaineer fits boot soles in the 14mm to 19mm range, while the 201 binding will fit 13mm to 16mm and seems to clamp tighter on the narrower soles, which is important. Hopefully Voile will continue to make the 201 binding also, for the lighter-duty boots with the thinner soles. There are several brands of 3-pin touring boots being made with the thinner soles.

    3-pin perfection
I'm a three-pin diehard for all types of ski touring, and these bindings are the epitome of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." The mount up easily, work flawlessly, and last and last and last. They're substantial enough to handle tele turns with less-than-perfect form and the several different clicks of the bail allow them to mate well with duckbills of varying thicknesses, from T3s to leathers to light XCBC boots. It would be wonderful if Voile included climbing wires for the heels instead of selling them separately, but then they wouldn't be quite so affordable. And, if I'm honest with myself, I rarely raise the wires anyway unless I'm putting on the skins.

    Rock solid, never fails.
Rock solid. I especially appreciate the heavy gauge aluminum. It's classic and it works. Why mess with a good thing?

Love everything about the bindings and Voile’s service. The bindings are beautifully made, and made to last! Very easy to use. I’m using Crispi boots with them.

    Two decades and counting
Rock solid. I mated them with a Kahru leather telemark boot and have had no trouble for over 20 years. I live in the mountains of Colorado and ski as well as camp in the backcountry all winter.

    All you need...
I cannot be bothered to ‘upgrade’ to a heavier and more expensive Tele binding— I just stay true to the humble binding of 3 pins. I use these at the resort on E99’s, Tua Toute Neige’s, KarhuSupremes, and Fischer 88’s. They are just fine on my Altai Hok’s, as well. They handle hard pack and powder, too. As I age, I find that I prefer my T4 and T2 plastic boots over leather on the groomers, but contrary to what everyone tells me, my humble 3 pin bindings work just fine with T2 boots. Sure, I have to hone technique on every run, but that is why I ski.

Old habits are hard to break
I've skied on all kinds of bindings, but I cannot stop skiing on a scaled , metal edged skis with three pin bindings. There is nothing that replicates the simplicity and ease or use of a three pin boot and three pin binding. Tip of the hat to Voile for making a modern, beautiful aluminum binding that I've relied on for years and that my 6 year old is learning to love in the hills today.

    Incredible and simple binding
Hello ski touring friends. If you desire to use a simple, reliable and inexpensive binding; then I can’t endorse this selection enough. My most memorable ski turns in deep snow and big terrain have been on these bindings. Although the tele turn is facilitated by this binding so is the alpine turn. Also, although the design may have never intended the following use, I have also had many great resort days on these bindings. Like all things “techi” there are lots of options for both telemark and AT bindings. I use the comparison of running shoes and marathons. You can spend big and say it can only be done in complex shoes. Or you can buy a great pair of racing flats, focus on form and compete a PR marathon. Mounted on a Voile pattern base ski, one can create an incredibly lightweight, simple and efficient approach to ski touring. Side note, this combination is also perfect for shuffling the little ones around a ski resort. One caution is forcing your turn can stress the pins causing rounding and a condition that may force a ski to come off. Spend $70, mount direct to a ski and go. I don’t think you will regret the choice.
