The X2 sums up 35 years of telemark binding innovation and evolution from Voilé. One of the hallmarks of that body of work is our consistent abandonment of the use of flexible (and breakable) cables. Stranded wires may be great for moving electrons, but for transferring turning forces to a ski, our own tenet of rigid coiled springs, steel rods and spring-loaded cartridges has more than proven itself over time.
In 2007, we took a cue from the randonnée world and introduced the now-legendary, Voilé Switchback, a telemark binding with a foolproof, free-pivot option that greatly facilitates climbing. (And does so with the simple flick of a ski pole.)
Built on the success of the Switchback, the X2 is a beefier, more-active, binding—but still an uphill wonder. And wrapped up in a sleek, minimalist design that a Scandinavian would admire and that lives up to a Voilé credo: Less is ALWAYS more.
Optimized for maximum power transfer, the X2 is augmented with stiffer cartridges, a much-longer toe plate and a boot pivot point relocated 26mm to the rear. The happy result is a powerful binding with superb downhill performance and the added efficiency of much-easier uphill travel. With regard to the latter, the X2 and Switchback, as well as our 3-Pin Hardware, all feature dual-height climbing elevators.
When you reach the top of your toil, just “switch back” to the X2’s downhill mode, and you’ll soon be making turns that would even make Sondre jealous.
Not compatible with the Voilé Release Kit.
Sold as a pair.

I’ve used the Voilé Switchback and X2 bindings on multiple setups over the years — including a pair of X2s mounted on my UltraVectors — and they’ve consistently been a rock-solid performer. The X2s strike a great balance between uphill efficiency and downhill control, especially with the added stiffness and power over the standard Switchback.
They tour incredibly well — the free-pivot motion is smooth and natural, the two level lifters allows for efficient climbing, and transitions are dead simple, even with gloves on. I use the Voile Universal crampon when things get a bit dicy and they work great with this binding.
On the descent, they feel locked in and responsive, with enough stiffness to drive my skis in steep terrain or variable snow.
If I had one wish? I do wish they were a bit lighter. When you're stacking big vert or out touring for long days, you start to feel that extra weight — especially compared to some newer tech options. But honestly, the reliability, durability, and ease of use make up for it. After many, many, many days in the backcountry I have never had an issue with these bindings.
They’re a winning combo with the UltraVectors — responsive, dependable, and made for real memorable days.
Highly recommend if power and simplicity matter more than shaving a few grams.

I have had many telemark bindings over the years, from Rottefellas in the late 70' then G3s but the best work horse has been the Voile Switchback X2 - they really let you Voile (English: sail )

This is by far the best binding I have found for meadow skipping when I don’t want to bring out my TX Pros / big skis, but need something more than an XC setup. It also brings back the joy of small hill skiing. I honestly feel like a kid again when I ski this binding!

I've been skiing Voile 75mm bindings for decades (3-pin, CRB, etc.) and these bindings are just the most lovely for touring the northeast woods/mountains with a pair of Vector BCs. Quick switch from tour to ski, plenty of power on the down. AND they fit my T2 mondo 31 boots!!

I’ve skied the switchback x2 for wo-three seasons; from powder to corn, resort and bc day tripping. These bindings have been an awesome do all binding.
