The Backland Tour is a fully functional tech binding coming in at less than 300 grams.
Toe piece includes a fool-proof metal step in guide, leash loop, and standard tech/Dynafit style crampon acceptor. Heel unit provides a 50 mm BSL adjustment, flat, medium and high climbing positions, and 3 levels of release adjustability. U spring is removable and the binding comes with 3 options: Women, Men and Expert. These correlate to roughly 6, 8 and 11 release values. Brake is an add on and must be mounted with the heel unit. This is a bomber, highly functional, and lightweight ski touring and mountaineering binding.
I have gone through my fair share of tech bindings over the years. Always have had a binding fail as a result of broken plastic pieces. I have been using the backland bindings for a few seasons without issues. I picked this binding because it uses mostly metal and has a reputation of being durable. No complaints with this binding, great innovation by atomic/salomon.
