The ATK Newmark Lite Freelock gives backcountry telemark skiers an unusual choice. Drop a knee when the skiing is good, or lock the heel when tired legs, difficult snow, or the terrain call for parallel turns.

The binding starts with ATK’s precisely machined tech toe. A spring-loaded claw engages the second heel of an NTN boot for telemark skiing, while the front Telelever manages uphill and downhill modes without adding another mechanism beneath the boot.

For the climb, the spring-and-claw cartridge can be removed entirely, leaving the boot free to pivot on the tech toe. It can also remain attached while using the integrated climbing riser. ATK’s Snowpack Proof System helps prevent packed snow and ice from interfering with the toe wings, and the built-in crampon receptor accepts ATK ski crampons when the skin track gets firm.

The Freelock heel unit adds fixed-heel capability for NTN boots equipped with rear tech fittings. At 440 grams per binding, it carries a modest weight penalty over the standard Newmark Lite while offering another way to manage the descent.

For NTN skiers who prioritize touring efficiency but appreciate having options when it is time to come down, the Newmark Lite Freelock brings an inventive idea to a remarkably compact binding.

Freelock Heel
A dedicated tech heel unit allows compatible NTN boots to be locked down for alpine-style parallel skiing. A rear tech fitting is required, and the heel unit does not provide lateral release.

Tech-Toe NTN Platform
The boot connects through its tech toe fittings while a spring-loaded claw engages the NTN second heel for telemark skiing.

Telelever
A single lever at the front of the toe piece manages uphill and downhill modes for straightforward transitions.

Removable Spring Cartridge
The spring-and-claw assembly can be removed for the climb, reducing the hardware carried on the ski while allowing a free tech-toe pivot.

Adjustable NTN Fit
The binding can be configured for both small and large NTN boot soles.
