Don’t get us wrong. We enjoy some “type II fun” just as much as the next masochist. But, fun doesn’t always have to be a near death experience. Which is why we’ve gone back to the drawing board on one of our most popular ski designs. Our goal? Shed some serious weight.
Introducing the Voile Hyper V6.
A super light, paulownia wood, core and twice the amount of carbon fiber provide the weight savings. But, that’s just half the battle. A Voilé ski must be durable too. So, we added re-enforcement to the mountings areas. Even with the 13%-15% weight savings, you still get the downhill performance of our original Voile V6. It’s quick to rise, even in the lightest powder—thanks to the tapered shape and Voilé Hybrid Rocker profile. The tight turning radius and shorter running length allows effortless transfer from edge-to-edge but won’t leave you puckered when holding an edge is critical. So go ahead, have some fun and remember: you can always go for a couple more laps, if you need more punishment.

Voile Hybrid Rocker
An intuitive, surf-like turn personality makes this a very easy ski to operate. Playful and responsive, with a turn radius on the tighter side. This ski is characterised as relaxed and easy-going.
Tip: Hybrid rocker tip and wide shovel provide unmatched float in powder.

Anti-Ice Topsheet

Triaxial Fiberglass

Full-Contact Steel Edge

Sintered Black Base

I'm 6'-2" 195 lb without gear and ski these in a 183. Mounted with a G3 Zed and skiing them with a midweight touring boot (Atomic Backland XTD). It is an excellent soft snow ski (powder, corn, etc.). Its mount point is slightly back compared to the Hyper V8 (which I have in 186) and the trails are a little flatter/more squared off. Between this and the waist width, they aren’t quite as good of a trail breaker and ski a little less “surfy” - which is of course expected. When there is more than 8” or so of new snow, I prefer the feel of the V8s. Moving up to a 188 in the V6 might change some of this, but would be a tradeoff for maneuverability on the up. The narrower waist has its advantages - better edge hold while skinning, easier to fit in an existing skin track, etc. Top sheets are a great material that doesn’t accumulate snow, bases and edges seem to be durable. These get the job done in firmer conditions, but I’d look elsewhere (vector ace series or different brand) if you want something specifically for those conditions. The days I have been least happy with these skis are when the snow is firmer or funkier and the terrain is steeper. But if you want something that can span the conditions from deep powder to spring/summer corn - this is a good one.
