Recipients will be announced in early June!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When we look back on the past three years of the Voile BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship, it&#8217;s difficult to express just how grateful we are for all that we&#8217;ve learned through your essays. Thank you for allowing us the space and opportunity to work towards promoting diversity in this niche of the greater outdoor industry. While there&#8217;s still no shortage of work to do in the name of diversity, inclusivity, and equitable access, we&#8217;d like to take a moment to thank everyone who&#8217;s helped with this Scholarship along the way. Whether that be through participating in this scholarship or helping to spread the word and promote the opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, with that said, we couldn&#8217;t be more excited to announce the 23\/24 Voile BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship!! This scholarship provides a large chunk of the gear required to help an individual get into the backcountry and further their goals. Once again, we understand that this scholarship isn&#8217;t a solution, but, we hope that this Scholarship can be a small step towards providing representation and access. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scholarship applications will open on April 21st and close on May 21st. Winners will be announced in early June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Can Enter<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It does not matter if you are new to skiing or snowboarding, looking to transition from the resort to the backcountry, or are looking to kick it up a notch with your current mountaineering objectives. We want to supply you with equipment to further your goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entries for the 23\/24 BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship are limited to BIPOC-identifying individuals in the US and Canada 21 years of age or older.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why &#8220;BIPOC Only&#8221;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Our goal is not to limit, but rather to help foster BIPOC representation in the backcountry. Our aim is to celebrate, amplify and inspire BIPOC presence in the mountains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">GRAND PRIZE:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A <a aria-label=\"Voile.com  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.voile.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Voile.com<\/a> <strong>account<\/strong> <strong>credit of $1,600<\/strong> USD will be rewarded to the overall winner. It occurs to us that the most valid opinion when selecting a winner will come from BIPOC members of the outdoor community. As such, we are opening up our judging panel to the  BIPOC community at large. ELIGIBILITY: Each 23\/24 BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship (\u201cPromotion\u201d) is offered and open only to legal residents of such jurisdiction(s) as stated in the advertisement for such Promotion (\u201cPromotion Advertisement\u201d) who are age 21 or older at time of entry. Void in all other states and where prohibited. Prize must be redeemed within 1 year of winning date.&nbsp;Current Voile Mfg. employees, partners, and ambassadors are restricted from entering this contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">2. PROMOTION PERIOD: The 23\/24 BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship Promotion starts on the start date indicated on the Promotion Advertisement and, unless otherwise stated on a Promotion Advertisement, ends on or about 11:59:59 pm MST on the end date indicated on the Promotion Advertisement (\u201cPromotion Period\u201d). Sponsor\u2019s clock is the official time keeping device for the Promotion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">3. HOW TO ENTER: Follow entry instructions as set forth on the 23\/24 BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship Promotion Advertisement. Submit an essay with a minimum of three photos of the applicant pictured somewhere in the photo. All entries must be submitted through the Google Forms link provide in the Promotion advertisement. Entries that are submitted via email, social media messengers or any other formats will be considered incomplete and not considered. All entries become the property of Sponsor and posted to their website for public visibility. Promotion Entities assume no responsibility for lost, late, incomplete, inaccurate, stolen, misdirected, postage due or illegible entries; nor for any computer, telephone, cable network, electronic or Internet hardware or software malfunctions, failures, connections, or availability, or garbled, corrupt, or jumbled transmissions; nor service provider, Internet, Web site, user net accessibility or availability, traffic congestion, or any technical error; nor for unauthorized human intervention, human error, or the incorrect or inaccurate capture of entry or other information; nor for the failure to capture any such information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">4. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY: Once submitted, entry cannot be modified, deleted or canceled. Entries may not infringe or violate the rights of any third party. Sponsor reserves the right, at its sole and absolute discretion, to refuse, disqualify, or withdraw entries and\/or Entrants at any time during the Promotion. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned. Use of any automated system, software applications that enable users to create multiple posts or accounts and\/or temporary accounts to participate in this Promotion or to redeem prizes is prohibited and may result in disqualification from this Promotion and any current or future promotions offered by the Sponsor. In the event of a dispute as to any entry, the \u201cAuthorized Account Holder\u201d of the phone number or email address associated with the account at time of entry will be deemed to be the entrant. SELECTION OF WINNERS: Sponsor will conduct judging on or about the date(s) indicated on the 23\/24 BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship Promotion Advertisement, from all eligible entries received to such date. Entries will be judged by Sponsor: <em><strong>Voile Mfg employees, ambassador team, and select BIPOC individuals. <\/strong><\/em> Finalists essays to be selected based on narrative quality. A winner will be selected from among these finalists using popular vote from the judging panel. They too will determine the runner up winner. Only one entry per participant will be considered. Sponsor will select the number of winners indicated on the Promotion Advertisement. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received and the number of prizes to be given away. Potential winner(s) will be contacted via the email address provided at the time of entry, or such other method as may be practical in Sponsor\u2019s discretion, within 5 to 10 business days after the selection of winners. You are not a winner until Sponsor has verified your eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules. Potential prize winners may be required to complete, have notarized and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and, where legal, Publicity Release within seven (7) calendar days of notification or attempted notification. Sponsor will make one attempt to notify each potential winner, who will have twenty-four (24) hours to respond. If (a) Sponsor is unable to contact a potential winner; (b) a potential winner fails to respond to a notification attempt within 24 hours; (c) a potential winner fails to timely return or properly complete the above-described release documents; (d) a prize notification or any prize is returned as non-deliverable; or (e) a potential winner is not eligible or does not comply with these Official Rules, prize forfeiture will result and an alternate potential winner may be selected. PRIZE(S) AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE (ARV): Grand prize consists of a credit of $1,600 USD to be used towards a pair of Voile skis or splitboard, bindings, shovel, probe, pole, and crampons,<em><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em>as well as $500 USD to be used for furthering the recipients avalanche education \u2013 as stated in the Voile BIPOC Backcountry Scholarship Promotion Advertisement. The runner-up prize consists of a credit of $800 USD to be used towards a pair of Voile skis or splitboard. The prize credit can NOT be used towards products from third-party brands that are offered at retail on voile.com i.e. Dynafit, Atomic 22 Designs, etc. The number of prizes to be given away, their description(s) and approximate retail value is as indicated on the Promotion Advertisement.. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value based on inventory. Prize(s) are not redeemable for cash. No substitution or transfer of prizes will be permitted except at Sponsor\u2019s sole discretion. All federal, state and local taxes and other fees associated with prize receipt and use are the sole responsibility of the winner. At Sponsor\u2019s discretion, winner may be required to pick up their prize at a specified location within a reasonable time period (as determined solely by Sponsor), or prize may be mailed to winner approximately sixty (60) days after the end of the Promotion Period, to the address provided by winner at time of prize acceptance. Prizes may be provided or mailed unassembled. Winner is solely responsible for assembling or arranging for the assembly of any unassembled prizes upon receipt.
